The severe forest fire in Australia, which lasted for about half a year, has been alleviated recently. Australian Prime Minister Morrison announced Tuesday that a Royal Commission will be set up to investigate the forest fire at the highest level.

In this forest fire season known as "black summer", fires occur in many parts of Australia, covering an area of 12 million hectares. As of April 4, 33 people were killed and more than 3000 houses were destroyed by forest fires. The WWF estimates that more than one billion animals were killed in the forest fire.

Morrison said that the scale of the "black summer" forest fire posed a new challenge to the governments at all levels in Australia, so a detailed national survey should be carried out, and the survey results should be presented on August 31 this year to prepare for the next round of forest fire season.

Morrison said the survey will study three key areas: improving the coordination of natural disaster management among governments at all levels; improving Australia's ability to prepare, resist and respond to natural disasters among governments at all levels; and the legal framework for the federal government to participate in responding to national emergencies.
